Dear Suvernaben, Harsh, Ami and Jay, Ashokbhai was a inspiration. During the years he was in Mumbai, he was a wonderful guide and mentor. I would drop by at Ram Mahal often, and Ashokbhai had no hesitation in guiding both of us personally and professionally. Harsh being in GLC at around the same time helped. My parents, Pratap and Kusum, were also family friends. Ashokbhai would always be unflappable and pleasant; his phrase " chal dikra" was legendary. Pannaben also sends her regards.

1946..Kabibai School, Mumbai a friendship began with Ashokbhai 74+ years ago.Now snuffed out. Friendship laced with pranks and warmth. Ashokbhai, Pravin Shah and I recreated these memories in reunions in North America with Suvernaben for 25+ years. Ashokbhai, An erudite storyteller. A raconteur par excellence. His demise now leaves a void with echoes of reunions laced with love, warmth and his spontaneous inimitable laughter. May his soul rest in peace. Suresh Mehta, Canada.
He was a gentle and humble senior who was always nice to anyone who interacted with him. I will always remember him as one of the finest gentleman who has set examples not only at Bar, but in general life as well for other to follow. My sincere condolences to his family.

We have had the good fortune of knowing Ashokbhai and Suvernaben for the last twenty five years, when our son joined Ashokbhai's chambers. Ashokbhai cared deeply about the future of our country, and its economic and political challenges, including the functioning of the Reserve Bank, and its interaction with the Government. His comments were always constructive and insightful, his outlook optimistic. Our heartfelt condolences to Suvernaben and the family. We shall all miss Ashokbhai very much.
We have so many fond memories of Uncle visiting Seattle. I distinctly remember when we visited him in Delhi, how he welcomed us all with open arms, his warmth, hospitality and genuine love was felt by each of us. My kids still remember that trip, even though their age was in single digits! He had the Charisma! In spite of his stature, he was extremely humble, loving and caring. He will be missed dearly. Ashokbhai was a well wisher, a wonderful human being, a role model apart from being a top class lawyer. Much has been written and many more will be. Two things stand out for me. His fearless and independent advise as Attorney General ,against the imposition of Presidents Rule in a state then governed by the opposition .Secondly his Justice K.T.Desai Memorial lecture on " Judicial overreach A Critique". RIP Sir.

I had the good fortune to spend a few days with Uncle and Aunty on trip to Delhi in 1997. Being a good friend of their son-in-law, Tushar, they insisted that i stay with them even though I had met them only once before and was made to feel like family. His enormous knowledge, his care for humanity and his really great sense of humor made for such engaging conversation. But even more so, I was really struck by his humility in spite of his stature. I will remember Ashokbhai for his brilliant advocacy and his kindly manner. I can never forget the time he appeared for the Indian Express before the CLB in 1994. He faced a phalanx of lawyers and staved off what would have been catastrophic orders against the Indian Express Group. I saw his love for classical music when I was in a conference with him and he was taking notes while Bhimsen Joshi’s raga Kedar was playing softly in the background. My sincere condolences to his wife and children.
On several occasion as a young lawyer I had the opportunity witnessing Mr Desai arguing before the apex court as well as Delhi High Court. He had the ability of being very persuasive but in the most humble and polite manner. Our bar will miss a great legal luminary and a wonderful person. My condolences to the believed family.
Ashok Bhai was one of the most lovable human beings I have met in my life. Got to know him as a young lawyer. I always used to tell him that as a kid i have played in his house..in those days we had a DDA park there...he always smiled at this ...I will miss him a lot

I had always been in awe of the persona of our most revered Senior Advocate Ashok Desai. My fortune was unlocked when I got the opportunity to be guided by his brilliance in a case involving constitutional issues. Desai Sir's enthusiasm was so magnetic! He created a case where many had failed!! An astute lawyer & performer. It was simply a divine experience to witness how meticulously his legal acumen worked a spell on both the Bar and the Bench. My humble regards to a legend.
The passing away of Ashokbhai Desai came as a shock. His demise is a loss for the entire bar. Ashokbhai was an outstanding lawyer who turned the most difficult cases his way. He contributed to the development of the law. .His most notable cases are difficult to recount . The law books are full of it He fought for personal liberty and added new dimensions to the powers of the constitutional courts He was well prepared and his diary had cititations which he gave to juniors who came to instruct him
We lost a Master of Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, however his light of immense knowledge bestowed upon the Indian legal fraternity is immortal and he will always remain as our guiding force. ????

The departure of Shri Ashok Desai for his heavenly abode is a great loss to the country & paticulary to the legal fraternity. I had a good fortune of meeting him & I was impressed by the humility of a great legal luminary. I pray to Almighty to give his soul eternal peace which he richly deserves.
